A little about me: 

I was born in South Korea, I live and work in Los Angeles, and worked as an international shoe designer for 2 decades before returning to making art in 2009. My work consists of sculptures, paintings, and photographic work, through which I’m interested in playing with the idea of leveling some of our automatic separations; inside and out, front and back, painting or sculpture.., while experimenting with each medium’s potential itself. I generally draw ideas from common objects, literature, science, current issues, while balancing my analytical design approach with whim and chance. My real-time portrait painting series titled, “lunch Portraits” (a tribute to Frank Ohara’s Lunch Poems) that started in 2015- in which I also try to level the stereotypes by mixing the real with imagined background – is a platform where I document my community in an organic and spontaneous manner, offering a place of dialogue and warmth in a cold market driven art world.
