No Logo Still LIfe

These still life paintings, as the third phase of the paperbag sculptures from the exhibition, No Logo, are an attempt to continue the trajectory of the paperbag sculpture in a two dimensional painting, while still respecting its object-ness. By defying to adhere to the borders/boundaries the rectangular and square format papers and canvases generally come in, by avoiding to paint-in the corners or the background, the image as an object seems to stand on its own.. specially at a certain distance. Objects as an idea seem more mobile to me, in how we think of them as transportable, and can be imagined to have perhaps traveled and lived and had experiences outside of just gallery walls.. The objects, as they are constructed by me, share a relationship with me particular and unique unlike any objects I can find at stores, so in a sense, they are portraits of my hand-made creatures.
